Weaving Story

Fulia cotton handloom saree is a gem from West Bengal’s weaving tradition. Fulia (also known as Phulia) emerged after the Partition in 1947. The weavers from the “Basak” community migrated from the Tangail Subdivision of Mymensingh District (East Pakistan) to Fulia.

These weavers brought with them the rich weaving traditions of their ancestral land. The Phulia sarees are reminiscent of Tangail’s technique but have their unique touch. Soft, airy, and adorned with spaced-out motifs, they come in both silk and cotton variants.
